IBITGQ launches the first IT governance certification

The International Board for IT Governance Qualifications (IBITGQ) has announced the launch of a new foundation qualification dedicated entirely to IT governance professionals. The new Certificate in IT Governance will be awarded to delegates who successfully pass the IBITGQ Principles of IT Governance examination.
IT governance is recognised as a key driver in ensuring competitive advantages for businesses, and a return on investment in information technology. It is a key component of corporate governance and it is at the heart of strategic IT management in all successful organisations. The need for a closer alliance of business objectives with IT resources and the need for compliance to standards, lead to an increased demand for IT governance professionals throughout the world.
A broad understanding of the principles of IT governance is an important requirement for those individuals responsible for implementing an IT governance framework. IT governance professional’s are expected to be familiar with the wide range of frameworks and standards which can be deployed in an integrated, business-focused IT governance framework. This knowledge can and should be acquired by both qualifications and experience.
Until now there hasn’t been any appropriate IT governance qualification, certified by accredited and respected independent exam bodies. Therefore, IBITGQ has identified the need for formal certification for IT governance professionals, helping them to progress their career in this field. The new IT governance qualification is suitable for Board directors, IT executives (CIOs, CISOs CTOs), IT managers, IT auditors, Project Managers, IT service managers, governance professionals and IT consultants.
