BMW supports Automotive Software Tester

With Dr. Marc Russ out of BMW’s quality management the Automotive Tester Board has a new, competent member.

Dr. Russ will represent the OEMs view in the board and will help to develop the scheme with his expert knowledge. By that way the GASQ Automotive Software Tester certification can further address the branch’s need and help to improve the quality of software testing in the field of automotive.

Dr. Hendrik Dettmering, president of the Automotive Tester Board: “We are very happy about our new member.  Especially BMW as a leading premium car manufacturer is known for its very high quality standards. The performance and efficiency of software tests is becoming more and more important for the Quality Assurance.”

Dr. Marc Russ: “The trend to implement new customer functions with software is unbroken.  For the high quality standards of our products software testing has a high importance. The combination of specific automotive standards and fundamental software testing standards is in my view the correct approach which I support with my membership in the board.”

The Certified Automotive Software Tester certification, which has been launched beginning of this year, is a certification specialized on software testers in the field of automotive. Existing automotive norms and standards are the core of the scheme. The certification includes the globally recognized ISTQB Certified Tester standards and also contains specific automotive norms and standards. It is by that way exactly tailored for the car manufacturers and their suppliers. Content of the certification are the basics of software testing in combination with testing in the field of automotive (including Automotive-PEP and AUTOSAR) as well as relevant automotive norms (Functional Safety and Automotive SPICE©). The certification itself is complementary to the internationally leading ISTQB Certified Tester standard. This specialization has been requested more and more during the last years and has been now brought into reality by the GASQ Automotive Tester Board.
